Will it work on my computer?

macOS 10.15 or later, Intel or Apple Silicon.Windows 10 64-bit or later.

Both products run as VST3, Audio Units and Pro Tools AAX, and as standalone applications. There is no VST2 version.

Which audio files can Rando read?

On both Mac and Windows: WAV, AIFF, FLAC, OGG and MP3.

On top of that, Rando uses your system's own audio support, so it reads more on each platform:

• Mac: anything macOS itself can decode, including m4a.
• Windows: WMA, WMV and ASF.

Two things it can't read: Kontakt .nki instruments and protected Ableton .aif files. Those are closed formats tied to their own software, so no sampler outside them can open them.

Does AI scanning work on my machine?

• Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit: yes. A DirectX 12 capable graphics card makes it faster, and Rando uses your CPU instead if there isn't one. Either way it works.
• Apple Silicon Macs (M1 and later): yes.
• Intel Macs: no. Apple's model encryption doesn't work on Intel hardware, so this isn't something we can switch on. You won't see an Advanced Sample Analysis option in Preferences at all.

On an Intel Mac, Rando still categorises your whole library from filenames and folder paths, and everything else (sampling, play modes, effects, the sequencer, presets) works exactly as it does everywhere else.

A note if you run plugins under Rosetta

If your DAW is running under Rosetta on an Apple Silicon Mac, Rando runs as Intel too, so AI scanning won't be available. Running your DAW natively restores it.

Rewind

No special hardware requirements. Rewind runs on any Mac or PC that meets the system requirements above.
