Setting up Rewind standalone

1. Find Rewind in your Applications (Mac) or Programs (Windows) folder and open it.
2. Click the gear icon, top right.
3. Open the Audio Settings tab.
4. Choose your Input and Output devices from the black dropdowns.
5. Choose your Input and Output channels with the blue buttons.
6. Close the window.

You can select several inputs at once — they're merged into a single track.

If you're monitoring a microphone, watch for feedback.

Why run it standalone?

Standalone keeps Rewind recording whatever it monitors, all the time, whether or not your DAW is open. This is the setup for hardware synths, acoustic instruments and vocalists — the moments that happen before anyone is ready.

Starting it automatically

Turn on Start at login in Settings → General. On Mac you can also add Rewind under Users & Groups → Login Items, and tick Hide if you'd rather it started out of the way.
